Cherry lmond Mgic Brs - one of the esiest cookie br recipe of ll time gets festive flvour twist with glcé cherries nd tsty tosted lmonds.

Ingredients
For the bse
2 cups grhm crcker crumbs
3 tbsp white sugr
½ cup melted butter
For the Top lyer
1¼ cups dried unsweetened coconut medium or fine cut
1 tsp vnill extrct
1/2 tsp lmond extrct
1 cn sweetened condensed milk 300 ml Cnd (14 oz cn US)
1 1/2 cups roughly chopped lmonds
1 cup chopped glcé cherries

Instructions
Prehet oven to 350 degrees F (325 degrees for glss bkewre).
For the bse
First choose the size of pn you prefer. The brs in the photo re bked in 9x9 pn becuse I like them thicker but if you prefer these cn be bked in 9x13 pn for thinner brs. (see note)
Lightly grese the pn nd line it with prchment pper.
Mix together the grhm crumbs, sugr nd butter nd press firmly into the bottom of the prepred pn.
For the top lyer
Hold bck hndful of cherries nd lmonds to sprinkle on top t the end if you like. It does mke them look little brighter on the plte.
Mix together the sweetened condensed milk, cherries, lmonds, coconut, vnill extrct nd lmond extrct until well combined.

Spred evenly over the bse lyer.
Finlly sprinkle on the reserved nuts nd cherries nd press down lightly.

The 9x9 pn will bke for 45-50 minutes nd the 9x13 pn for 30-35 minutes t 350 degrees F.
Cool completely in the pn before cutting in brs or squres.
Recipe Notes
I prefer to mix ll of the ingredients together rther thn putting them down in lyers s ws the originl mgic brs recipe nd I bke them in 9x9 pn so tht they re thicker nd lwys bke to chewy texture. It is mtter of preference, I suppose but I've lwys hd better success using this method.
